Book Trailer Reveal! SPEAK UP by Miranda Paul & Ebony Glenn

#20truePBs readers, you get to see it first! The new trailer for the timely forthcoming book SPEAK UP...

Today's blog post is an exclusive from #20truePBs author Miranda Paul, about her important book with #20truePBs illustrator Ebony Glenn—we are so happy to support these two kidlit creators and this book right now!

Launching a book during a pandemic is not easy. Many authors and illustrators are feeling shy about “speaking up” to share their new titles with the world, even though they need the extra boost. So we have to “speak up” about this new picture book, which is called SPEAK UP!

Synopsis:

In this spirited and vibrant picture book, join a diverse group of kids on a busy school day as they discover different ways to speak up and make their voices heard. From shouting out gratitude for a special treat to challenging a rule that isn’t fair, these young students show that simple, everyday actions can help others and make the world a better place.

SPEAK UP releases on July 7, 2020, and is available for pre-order now wherever books are sold, including the publisher, bookshop.org, IndieBound, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.

From The Author:

In school, I was mostly a quiet kid. I remember feeling knots in my tummy when I had to talk to grown-ups or answer questions. I’d clear my throat many times to prevent my voice from cracking. Singing and acting helped me overcome my nervousness and become confident in the power of my voice.

As a parent, I’ve encouraged my children to speak up when things really matter. One day, my son bravely told a teacher about a student who brought a weapon to school. Speaking up allowed his classmates to stay safe.

There are many kinds of communication we can use to help ourselves, others, and our world. At the end of Speak Up, I’ve included profiles of real young people who used their voices in different ways to bring good to their communities—from the creators of the Friendship and Buddy Benches to courageous activists such as Malala Yousafzai. Readers will also find a list of ways to help others without having to say a single word.

I have no doubt: one person truly can make a difference.

Peace,

Miranda Paul
